Review | Eau Thermale Avène Cleanance Anti-Shine Purifying Lotion-Toner

Hey Girlies,

Skin care should be a very important part of any beauty regime. One product that I personally tend to forget about is a toner. The main reason being is that I often don't see very many on the market. Beauty and skin care brands are constantly releasing new moisturisers, cleansers etc. but we rarely tend to hear much about toners.

So when I was sent this Eau Thermale toner from Avène* to try out, I was delighted. Avène have a wide range of products, and different lines catering different skin care issues. The Cleanance range is aimed at those with oily and blemish-prone skin, such as myself, which is the line this product is a part of. The products contain lots of great ingredients such as Thermal Spring Water to soothe the skin and Zinc Gluconate to reduce inflammation.

I applied the toner after cleansing my skin with a cotton pad. What I first noticed is how well it cleanses and purifies the skin. It removes every last scrap of makeup or dirt that may not even be visible to you.
I also noticed how soft my skin felt from using the toner. Another great benefit is the mattifying effect. It's difficult to describe but your skin does actually feel slightly matte from the product. This doesn't last for the entire day, but it definitely does help in controlling oil.

The one thing the product didn't so is really help to even out my skin tone or reduce redness. Of course, the product doesn't actually claim to do this but that is what I generally expect from a toner.

If you are looking for a product to reduce oil and really cleanse the skin, this is a product I would recommend.

This product is £8.75/€15 per 200ml available from Boots

Review | OPI Ridge Filler

Hello Lovelies,

I am definitely one of those girls who loves painting their nails! I love to switch up my polish frequently and if I'm feeling daring, I'll attempt a bit of nail art. The only trouble with this is that all this nail polish tends to cause a bit of damage to my nails. I decided I really needed a new base coat, and decided to try out OPI's Ridge Filler.

This milky-coloured polish is a base coat that is applied prior to application of your nail colour. This is the perfect polish for you if your nails tend to peel. It fills in any ridges and unevenness in the nails. This makes main polish application very simple and helps the polish to glide on smoothly.

I found this polish to really work and helps improve the over all texture of nails and definitely prevents discolouration. When you take off your nail polish you'll be able to see the ridge filler as it leaves your nails looking slightly white. I like this as it prevents your nails from turning that unsightly yellow colour that tends to happen from deep nail colours.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this polish if you are looking for a new base coat. It fills in ridges, prevents discolouration and helps polish last longer also.

OPI Ridge Filler available here on sale from €10.50 to €5.50

Review + Swatches | Topshop Lipstick in 'Saint'

Hey Everyone.

Topshop makeup line is loved by the beauty world, and is one of the best highstreet makeup brands, in my opinion anyway! I've reviewed a few of their makeup items before, including a lipstick and a few of their gorgeous nail polishes. I've been recently longing for a nude-pink lipstick but didn't fancy forking out close to €20 for a MAC lipstick so I decided to try one of Topshop's offerings.

The shade I went for is entitled 'Saint' and is the perfect peachy nude-pink. It is nude enough without looking like you just slapped foundation on your lips! I love Topshop's makeup packaging. The lipstick comes in a sturdy cylindrical tube. The details of the packaging are the stripes in the lower half of the tube and the writing 'Lips' in a pencil-written style. The sticker at the bottom of the tube is very handy as it is the same colour as the shade encased.

The formula of the shade took me a bit longer than usual to get used to, as it does tend to stick to any dry patches on the lips, so make sure to apply a lip balm prior to applying the product. Besides that slight glitch, it glides on smoothly but does need to be layered if you desire a more prominent nude lip. It gives a natural, yet pretty colour.

Overall, I think this is a great product and very pretty colour. If you're on the hunt for a new nude lipstick, this one is a great high street offering.

Available from selected Topshop stores and their website for €12

Travel Diary #3: Paris!

Bonjour Cheri,

I feel everyone has some strange obsessions with certain things or places. Mine happens to be with Paris- in particular, the Eiffel Tower, so when I was offered to go on a short trip to Paris with my Dad, I was super excited! I only went for one night and two days but managed to fit in everything I wanted to. I have visited Paris previously so have already visited places such as the Louvre and the Notre Dame, so I just went to a few specific places this time round.

Top L-R: Brandy Melville store//Hot chocolate//views from Eiffel Tower
First stop was Brandy Melville which is quickly becoming my number one favourite clothing store. Their clothing is so cute, comfortable and chic- very my style. They currently have no locations in Ireland but do have one location in Paris, so of course I made sure to stop by and pick up a few bits.

After my shopping trip, we headed to the infamous and beautiful Eiffel Tower. For me this was a highlight as I have quite the obsession with the Eiffel Tower. I can't explain why, nor do I know why but it's just one of those things I really love.

Eiffel Tower pics including selfies with the Eiffel Tower! (Bottom right)

The final exciting aspect of my trip was seeing L'Arche de Triomphe, another very famous Parisian landmark. The exterior gives the impression of simplicity but it is in fact very detailed and intricate- overall, very beautiful.

I very much enjoyed my quick, but lovely trip to Paris. It is what I can only describe as beautiful. Everything from the building to the landmarks even to the people, it is all very pretty and to look at the city alone is an activity in itself.

My Obsessions: Wildfox Clothing!

Hey Everyone,

I am a big fan of comfy clothing. I can honestly say I try as much as possible to wear leggings or jeggings rather than jeans purely for comfort reasons! Something that can be difficult, is being comfy whilst still looking stylish and put together. The perfect clothing brand to achieve this is Wildfox.

I'll start by letting you know a bit about the brand if you've never heard of it. Wildfox is an American vintage-inspired knitwear brand based in Los Angeles, California. It is inspired by sleepovers, beautiful books, fairies, dreams, vintage t-shirts and friendship.
I mean what's not to love?
A taste of some of their gorgeous clothes! All available from www.wildfoxcouture.co.uk
I own a few Wildfox pieces, with their baggy beach jumpers being my favourite item of theirs. The brand is what I can only describe to be the epitome of comfort. Everything is made to the highest quality with the softest of materials. Their clothing feels like wearing a blanket! Everything has the cutest designs, images and slogans also. If jumpers and sweatpants aren't really your thing, Wildfox also have a great range of knitwear aswell as swimsuits and accessories to name just a few.

As you can see, Wildfox is also very loved among celebrities.
With great clothing, however, comes a price. Wildfox is seriously not cheap and is the major downside to the brand. It is considered a "couture" brand so most of their clothing is around the €100+ mark with their knitwear being €200+.

Wildfox is available from a number of retailers in the UK such as Harvey Nichols, Harrods and Selfridges. If you live across the pond you can find Wildfox in stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom. If you live anywhere else, including Ireland, Wildfox is available from a number of online retailers including ASOS, Shopbop, Revolve and of course their website.
