Being Happy For You!

Hello Lovelies,

I'll start by saying hello and thank you to all of you darlings who entered my MAC Giveaway. The giveaway is now closed and I would just like to welcome any new followers to my blog and to the ones that have been here for a while, I am and continue to be very grateful for your support. Any-who, on with the post!

Being happy is one of, if not the most, important things in life. It's such a very simple thing, and concept, yet something that is often swept aside. People talk about being fit, healthy, spending time with family etc. etc. but we forget about the simple core to all of this, being happy. I, of course believe being happy is a combination of many things but why don't people write more about being happy? I mean emotionally, mentally and physically happy. It seems far to much is based on appearance.

The key to being happy, is remembering to be happy for you. Do what makes you happy. This of course has its limits, as we can't all become self-obsessed with our own need to be happy. Often being happy for yourself involves others, and helping and spending time with others. What I mean by being happy for you is by doing things you love, and making an effort not to care so much about what other people think. Don't be afraid to make mistakes, it's how we grow and learn. Channel your inner one-year-old self, you wouldn't be walking if you had been too afraid to stumble and fall

At the end of the day, who cares what other people think? Chances are, you'll spend a lot more time worrying about what they think than they will be thinking about you! So you know what, blast that Bieber music, dare to wear a bright red lippy to work and honestly (as mushy as this is) follow your dreams and your heart. It's your life, your happiness. This world belongs to you just as much as the next person.

Review: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Milk'

Hey Dolls,

I'll start off by wishing you a very Happy Valentine's Day. I don't have strong feelings towards Valentine's day, in my world it's no biggie. You can probably tell that I'm not all loved up at the minute. I'm spending my Valentine's Day curled up watching a movie and typing up this blogpost, and to be honest, I don't have much of an issue with that! Anyway, on with the review!

When I was in Germany back in November, I picked up this little wonder in a local beauty store. I was delighted to see these in store, as NYX is a difficult brand to get a hold of here in Ireland. Especially this shade, Milk. It's become a bit of a cult product in the beauty world, and it certainly lives up to its expectations in my opinion.

The product is essentially a thick eyeliner. It has a creamy consistency and glides on very smoothly. I like to apply it in the inner corners. It really brightens up your eyes, perfect for those early mornings! It also works great as a base, before applying eyeshadow.

As you can see, I've been using my jumbo eye pencil quite a bit, which has caused it to become a little grubby looking (sorry about that!). The good thing is, that when applied it still comes out crystal white!
The only gripe I have with the product is the packaging. I actually quite like the look of the packaging, it's just that the cap isn't very sturdy. Mine is cracked and I didn't even throw it around too much!

Overall this is a great product. It's very well pigmented, glides on smoothly and does a great job of making me look awake in the morning when I really don't feel it!

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils are available here for €5.75

NOTD: Pretty Bow Nail Art Tutorial

Hello Lovelies,

If you read a recent post of mine, about my obsession with nail art (check it out here), then you know that I've been trying out some new designs and artistic creations (ahem) on my nails! Recently, I did some bow nail art and thought I'd share it with you all.

1. I started by painting every second nail in Essie's Mint Candy Apple. It is a cult shade here in the beauty world, and I love it! The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's a fabulous mint green that looks especially great with a tan.
2. I then painted every other nail in Essie's Bikini So Teeny. Another great bright pastel shade in a blue-purple tone. It is also packed with extremely subtle iridescent glitter.

3. After they were dry, I went on to the tricky part, the bows! I took a very thin nail art brush and drew tiny white bows near the tip of every nail. I used MAC Vestral White polish.

4. After allowing the bows to dry, I outlined them in black with the same nail art brush. I used Essie's Licorice shade.
I hope you enjoyed this NOTD and mini tutorial. For a more in depth tutorial, check out the WAH book of nail art.

How I Style: Leggings

Hey Dolls,

One of the toughest things, when it comes to fashion, is looking cute but being comfy. Dresses and skirts can be comfortable but there's always the worry in the back of your head that you may have a Marilyn Monroe moment, or that your legs aren't crossed! Jeans and many other pants can be uncomfortable and restricting. My favourite type of bottom, are leggings!

For some reason, leggings seem to be a controversial clothing item! Many people believe strongly that leggings are not pants and shouldn't be worn as pants. Personally, I don't really agree but I don't completely disagree either. I think that leggings can be worn as pants as long as they are worn with a loose and/or a baggy top or jumper. I definitely wouldn't recommend wearing a short top with leggings, unless you like the camel toe look (which no one does!).

Anyway, I'm going to show you my personal recommendations on how to style leggings. The best part is that leggings come in such a wide variety of colours, prints and materials.

  • Comfy Casual
This is perfect for school, college or days when you aren't doing much. Some basic leggings and a cute knitted jumper keeps you warm, comfy and cute! I love this jumper from Topshop (€61) and these thick, panel leggings from River Island (€25).

  • Lunch with Friends
This outfit is a more formal than the last, but still low-key. Perfect for going to lunch with some friends or going shopping! These cream leggings, from River Island (€33.71 on ASOS), with the panel down the side are so classy and this ASOS bow back denim shirt (€51.24) is to die for!

  • Night Out
The last look I'll show is styling leggings for a night out. A bit of bling and some killer heels always do the trick. These leggings are sure to stand out thanks to the amazing tassel detail (€53.95 ASOS). Pair them with a embellished peplum (€47.20 Lipsy at ASOS) and some killer heels (Boohoo €55)  and you're good to go.

Let me know if you are loving leggings as much as I am and what your favourite look is!

Spring/Summer Fashion Trends 2013

Hey Girlies,

So whether Spring has actually arrived yet is arguable. Some say the first day of Spring is February 1st, but apparently the astronomical date of arrival for Spring is March 20th. Anyway, regardless of whether Spring is here or not, Spring fashion is definitely making it's way into stores, so here are some trends to look out for in the shops.

  • Patterns
Once again, patterns are a huge trend this season. This time, mostly in monochromatic colours, ie. black and white. Seen allover the Marc Jacobs runway, stripes are an especially huge pattern trend- think Parisian chic!

  • 60's Inspiration
As with everything in life, what goes around eventually comes back around! Root through your mother's wardrobe and be inspired by sixties fashion. Think pop art graphics, futuristic mod and even hippie! Everyone from Moschino to Prada is rocking this trend for Spring.
I love this tee from Topshop, very "Big Bang Theory"! Get it here for £18.
  • Pencil Skirts
The pencil skirt is back. Seen on everyone's runway from Oscar de la Renta to Alexander McQueen, this is one trend that you can most definitely rock in the office. This season, however, these won't be any old pencil skirts. Think frills, splits and metallic prints.
This sequin skirt from ASOS is perfect for a date night or dressing up for the office. Pick it up here for €101.14

  • Bomber Jackets
This is the jacket of the season. Seen on many runways including Chanel and Stella McCartney. Whether it be embroidered, embellished or just plain and simple, there's a bomber jacket out there for everyone.
This cute jacket is perfect for everyday wear. It is by Pippa Lynn and us currently on sale for €51.24 (originally €94.40) on ASOS. Check it out here.

That's my lineup of the Spring/Summer trends of 2013. Let me know what trends you'll be trying and there are any I missed!
